For the most part ASVMR was loosely basing this off the idea of William Gibson's Johnny Mnemonic (along with neuromancer and other similar science fiction novels.) however he mostly wanted to focus on the idea of the "memory capacity" of a person.

ASVMR tried to make it feel like what it's like to have too much in your head. On most songs he gives the impression of dreams and memory's seeping in--changing and swirling all around, especially with the track EXTERNALLY WIRED.

For this album ASVMR stuck to the idea of using samples from old games that he used to play a lot when he was younger that he only had a vague memory of until recently, so he could implant his own memory into these songs, and in turn the listener.
